Agnes Obel from Denmark is set to create a dramatic musicscape at Huvila. Be prepared for eerie chamber pop along with soft ambient music – a beautiful dream and an air of menace straight from the woods of Twin Peaks. Some might see a glimpse of Kate Bush’s shadow or Scott Walker’s ghost.
The singer-songwriter who studied record production is renowned for her heartfelt commitment to music. Obel records in her home studio in Berlin, where she blends classical piano with multi-layered vocals and strings with effects. The original artist holds the reins on the stage just as easily. She’s a travel guide to the dramatic landscape.
The evening will open with the Finnish band Elifantree. The highly acclaimed line-up released an album last year, in reference to which megalomania can be used as a compliment. The freethinking trio takes its audiences from ambient jazz to art pop and hazy instrumental hum.
