Goat Pekko Käppi K:H:H:L

Event Introduction

It’s quite possible that Goat is a sect that uses musical rituals to lure unsuspecting listeners into its circle. Even the band itself has said that its gigs are for “collecting souls”. Some sources, however, say that there’s a collective behind the name, formed in the village of Korpilombolo in northern Sweden, whose line-up has changed over the years. But, it doesn’t really matter who the artists behind the masks are because it all just works so well.

There is something mysterious about the band though, as it so effortlessly puts scattered influences together. Goat’s music has echoes of afrobeat, art rock, heavy metal and folk. Occasionally, the hypnotic music is accompanied by an assumed female voice, and sometimes the melody disappears into the buzz of an electric guitar. That’s the part when you should hold on to your soul, just in case.

The evening’s opening act, Pekko Käppi & K:H:L:L, is no stranger to mythology either. The jouhikko artist and his band chop elements from the mythical past, voodoo blues, folk songs and popular music and mix them into their folk rock.
