Helsinki Festival opens with a concert that will surely make it to many Top cultural experiences of 2021 lists. Conducted by André de Ridder, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra performs composer legend Philip GlassHeroes Symphony, based on legendary rock musician David Bowie’s album Heroes – which was done in collaboration with the Helsinki Festival theme artist Brian Eno. Glass is considered one of the most influential living composers, who moves smoothly from one genre and art form to another. Glass himself has described his compositions as a sort of sonic weather in which different elements twist, turn, surround, repeat and vary.
