Science questions turned into songs

Event Introduction

Why doesn’t Grandmother hibernate? Are crocodiles happy when their babies are born? Children’s science-related questions published in the newspaper Helsingin Sanomat were given vivid musical forms by composer-lyricist-producer Suvi Isotalo on the album Laulavat tiedekysymykset, released last autumn. Now these songs will be performed live on the Huvila stage.

The question topics vary from teleportation to ants and are a wonderful testament to children’s limitless imagination. The musicians, known from bands such as Saimaa, will express their imagination through a variety of musical genres – science is explained by energetic ska just as well as it is by gentle ballads.

The artists vary by style. Songs that captivate the whole family will be performed on the Huvila stage by artists such as Mari Rantasila, Matti Johannes Koivu, Sinikka Sokka and Kanerva, while the children of the Helsinki Rudolf Steiner School choir will also lend their voices to the performance.

Audience members will be left with answers to many of life’s tough questions – including as to the current state of children’s music. It’s doing very well, thanks for asking!
