Event Introduction

Annantalo’s Night of the Arts is inspired by the Moving Laboratory exhibition, which explores movement! During the Night of the Arts, we will build strange gadgets and meet the most amazing people. There will be presentations, workshops and other peculiar things.

Visual arts classroom 1
Come and try making kinetic art, or art in motion!
The workshop is all about working and fooling around with kinetic objects and creating something amazingly moving.
The workshop is led by artist Tuomo Vuoteenoma from the House of Kinetic Arts

What is your superpower?
Theatre classroom and graphics classroom
Giant ears! Smart hat! Mega biceps!
What kind of superpowers do you have? What kind of a superpower would you like to have?
Build yourself a cardboard outfit and try to move in it in a shadow theatre.

Bun machine
Dance classroom
Step inside a bodily bun machine!
You can lie down in the machine and be part of dough. Or you can roll, bake and rise your friend.
Entering the bun machine in pairs.

A mechanical toy is built in the workshop in the spirit of Annantalo’s Moving Laboratory student exhibition.

MUSIC PERFORMANCES

Wishes and dreams
Annantalo, 2nd floor
During the summer, Annantalo’s summer artist Jukka Kääriäinen has collected the wishes and dreams of visitors and worked them into a sound installation and composed a piece of music. We will hear the work live in a 40-minute concert on the second floor of Annantalo during the Night of the Arts.

Interview with Cleaning Women: Self-made instruments

Come and hear about instruments made of laundry racks and laundry drums, for example.

6 pm to 7 pm

Annantalo’s Night of the Arts is culminated by Cleaning Women’s free open-air concert!

Cleaning Women is a Finnish band founded in 1996, known for their self-made instruments, androgynous image and cross-artistic undertakings such as audiovisual installations and silent film soundtracks.
