Art historical walking tours: Classicism in the City Centre Campus

Event Introduction

The tour will showcase the old side of the University’s Main Building, the National Library of Finland and more. The Main Building, completed in 1832, represents a predominantly Greek style with Ionic columns that were seen to represent civilisation and education, while the National Library, completed in 1840, is often considered to be Engel’s finest work.
