The most wonderful evening of August is here once again! All locals and even people from further away are welcome to join us at Stoa Square to enjoy the atmosphere of the beginning of autumn.

Free workshops
5:00–6:30 PM Skateboard Truck, free skateboarding school for the whole family

Come and explore the skateboard truck and try out what it feels like to roll on a board! The skateboard truck offers skateboards and protective gear for loan. The instructor is professional skateboarder Petrus Marttila, who has been touring with the skateboard truck in kindergartens, schools, youth centers, and various events since 2012.

5:00–8:00 PM Cosmic Sand
We paint temporary images with sand. Enjoy creating an image – and then wiping it away.

5:00–8:00 PM Mythical Landscape Workshop
Come and create your own mindscape. The scenes created in the workshops will be projected to illuminate Stoa Square as the autumn darkness falls.

5:00–8:00 PM Water Plankton Workshop
See water fleas, copepods, insect larvae, beetles, aquatic isopods, and leeches. Look through a microscope and dive into the fascinating world of a forest pond!

5:00–8:00 PM Luovuus itää (Creativity Sprouts) Collage Workshop
Artists from the “Luovuus itää” exhibition will lead a collage workshop where both drawing and pasting images take place.

5:00–8:00 PM Vegetable Detectives
In this interactive workshop, children and families get to investigate vegetables and fruits like vegetable detectives, smell various scents, crunch different textures, and taste magical waters.

5:00–8:00 PM Diary of the Future Dead Workshop
What do life and death mean in this time?
Welcome to participate in a workshop that will become part of the “Diary of the Future Dead” exhibition from 14.10–3.11.2024 at the Stoa Cultural Centre.

5:00–8:00 PM Descent into the Forest – a Performative Relaxation Session for Adults in Myllypuro Forest
We invite Taiteiden yö celebrants to pause in the embrace of the forest. In Myllypuro Forest, we relax in hammocks while listening to poetry, live music, and the sounds of the forest. Space for 20 adults, sign-up on-site at Stoa.

at 17:45 Pikku Papu’s Orchestra & UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra
When Pikku Papu’s Orchestra and UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra come together, you get a huuuuge family concert for children!
Even the youngest members of the family can join in the songs and games during the concert. Cheering and dancing are also allowed – even encouraged!
Note! Our wind orchestra can sometimes be loud. Especially for the youngest concert-goers, we recommend being prepared for loud volumes.
The concert lasts approximately 40 minutes.
In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to Stoa.

at 18:30 Agit Cirk: Sphere
Sphere is an entertaining and delightfully humorous outdoor performance for audiences of all ages. The audience will witness trust-filled pair acrobatics, wild throws, drops, and skillful climbing that make the performance memorable.
Duration approximately 25 minutes.

at 19:00 Elena Mindru & Juha-Pekka Mikkola & UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra
UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra, jazz singer Elena Mindru, and actor-musician Juha-Pekka Mikkola present a full array of captivating and exciting music from hit lists and movies in big band versions.
What does Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” sound like as a funk version? Or Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” as a Latin version? Not to mention Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar,” which has been given a particularly sweet twist by the 16-member orchestra!
The concert lasts approximately 1 hour.
In case of rain, the concert will be moved indoors to Stoa.
