Event Introduction

17:00–19:00 Opening of two exhibitions
Risto Jarva’s photographs from 1950’s Europe will open in the Tile and Cellar galleries. In Laterna Magica Book Gallery, Eija Pokkinen’s ink, charcoal and pastel drawings and Timo Pyhälä’s stone sculptures, elves and earthlings engage in a dialogue in the joint exhibition Maaemon katse – The Gaze of Mother Earth.

19:00 Live music in the bookstore FML Duo
Markku Toikkanen, Timo Pyhälä and Jaakko Kuikka play experimental, improvised music, including microtonal material.

19:30 The short film Europa (1931) with a live accompaniment in the Cellar gallery
Europa is an anti-fascist film poem that was lost for almost 80 years after the German army stole the available copies during WWII. Accompanied by live duo Ketvel & Tuomainen. Duration 12 minutes

20:00 Aatos Ketvel plays in the Cellar gallery
Aatos Ketvel is a singer-songwriter and spoken word poet from Helsinki whose restless lyrics dance down the paths of the absurd, playfully toying with language along the way.
