Event Introduction

RAW – Relational Art Week
12.8. –18.8.2024

Myymälä2 is proud to invite you to RAW – Relational Art Week. The program changes daily, and it focuses on the relation between publics and artworks. RAW started in 2019, and it is part of the yearly activity produced by Myymala2. In 2024 RAW is curated by Irina Mutt.

Irina Mutt is a writer and curator from Barcelona but currently lives in Helsinki. Her practice is based on different strategies and tools for research and distribution, often using non-academic sources and references such as fanzines, comics or video games. She situates her work within LGTBQ+ culture and strategies as a way to bring tensions between visibility and opacity, vulnerability and power.

This edition of RAW will explore different ways in how artists narrate their own practices and experiences. Looking into how thoughts, memories or fantasies can expand and circulate through different methods and formats.
Every artist will activate Myymälä2 gallery with their own terms and conditions, sharing accounts through gestures, whispers, senses, images or sounds.

Each day of the festival we will make some time to meet from a short distance and share stories. After all, this is what remains after a world ends; the stories we tell.
