Event Introduction

Join us in celebrating the diversity of the arts and dance for the future of art and culture!

Let’s dance together to defend a life worth living! With collective singing, DJs and performances. March for the Arts – street party at Kansalaistori starts from 20:30.

Before the party we will march against cuts (not part of the program of the Night of the Arts). For more details about the march and about the ARTS AGAINST CUTS campaign and how to get involved see: www.artsagainstcuts.fi.

The government of Finland is planning substantial cuts to the arts and cultural sector, which pose a threat to the livelihoods of art professionals and cultural workers, the existence of cultural institutions, and the availability of cultural programmes across the country. With 130,000 people employed in arts and culture and many more working as freelancers, the future looks uncertain for all of us. It’s time to unite and take a stand against the cuts and to show solidarity with all those affected by the government’s policies. Bring your fabulous and colourful outfits, dance, music, pots and pans, shouts, glamour and angry joy.
