Vuotatalo’s Night of the Arts

Vuotalo’s Night of the Arts is a celebration of world music, dance and joyful togetherness. We spend the Night of the Arts enjoying concerts at Vuotori and get to know each other in Vuotalo’s lower yard, the lovely garden of stories.

3 pm to 4 pm Performance by Delado International: Ethnofusion – music and dance

Vuotalo’s Night of the Arts is kicking off with an afro-themed performance by Delado International. Combining ethnomusic sparkling with life, traditional African rhythms and energetic afro dance, the show invites everyone at Vuosaari to enjoy the Night of the Arts. Let’s dance together in Vuotori! Delado combines African and Western traditional culture. It offers a memorable mix of contemporary and traditional dance and music that is rarely heard. Language: Finnish, Swedish, English, French

6 pm to 7 pm Dan + Claudia Zanes – exhilarating world music for all ages!

Relaxed multicultural family concert by lovely American-Haitian couple Dan and Claudia Zanes, where everybody gets to participate –sing, dance, be silly and get empowered. Music is a natural part of all of us! The concert is a joyful mix of new and traditional acoustic folk and world music. It’s also blending together the boundaries around adult’s and children’s music in a creative and fresh way, respecting and delighting all age listeners. Dan and Claudia are both highly acclaimed professional musicians with life-long careers –Dan is a Grammy award winner folk rocker and one of the pioneers in American children’s music scene, Claudia is a jazz vocalist and a music therapist. They tour around the world performing and uniting people through music, this autumn also in Finland and Vuosaari!

7 pm to 9 pm Story Sharing Café

Story Sharing Café is an easy and fun event where people from all over the world, with diverse backgrounds and realities can meet and share everyday stories. You can come alone or bring a friend and share stories and memories in small groups at coffee tables hosted by members of our Story Sharing group.
We also have some special storytelling guests, music and an open story sharing mic. Together we will create a heart-warming and enjoyable event! We speak at least English, Finnish, Swedish, Arabic, Pashto, Spanish and Russian. This special café will happen under the trees outside Vuotalo. The night in the magic garden will be full of light, music and wonderful stories.
