Welcome to Helsinki! During Helsinki Festival, the busiest entrances into the city will transform into shared art experiences.

ENTER HELSINKI brings new ambient art works utilising light and sound to the Central Railway Station, Helsinki Airport and the West Terminal. At the same time, these funnels of human flows turn into experiential spaces that beckon you to stop and take a break from your everyday life.

The first featured artists in this multiannual programme are three duos combining different art genres. Utilising sound and image in several ways, these works challenge you to ponder the themes of arriving, leaving, waiting and free mobility from a new perspective.

Timo Kaukolampi is a musician, producer and experimenter from Helsinki, whose music consists of electronic elements with organic instruments and human voices. Kaukolampi’s music aims to be timeless, but is still firmly rooted in the past, the present and the future. His debut solo album 1, released in 2017, took a turn towards film music, ambient and minimalism. The inspiration for the album came from the emptiness found between notes and sounds.

Jenni Pystynen is a lighting designer working with light in different contexts from architecture to performing arts and installations. Pystynen is interested in the metaphysical dimension of light and considers the northern daylight and its ever-changing nature her greatest source of inspiration. She wants to create strong images and influence the viewer’s emotional and spatial experience with light.
