Welcome to Helsinki! During Helsinki Festival, the busiest entrances into the city will transform into shared art experiences.

ENTER HELSINKI brings new ambient art works utilising light and sound to the Central Railway Station, Helsinki Airport and the West Terminal. At the same time, these funnels of human flows turn into experiential spaces that beckon you to stop and take a break from your everyday life.

The first featured artists in this multiannual programme are three duos combining different art genres. Utilising sound and image in several ways, these works challenge you to ponder the themes of arriving, leaving, waiting and free mobility from a new perspective.

One of the most acclaimed electronic music artists and producers of his generation, Jon Hopkins has worked with Imogen Heap, Brian Eno, Coldplay and London Grammar, among others. Hopkins’ latest projects include, for example, the music for the stage version of Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. A two-time Mercury Prize nominee, Hopkins also received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2018 for the album Singularity.

Ville Hyvönen is an audiovisual designer, producer and cinematographer working in film, theatre, media and installations. Hyvönen has worked extensively in film and as designer for the works of the Kristian Smeds Ensemble.
