Two Helsinki-based musicians join forces in a captivating performance where cultures, histories, and soundscapes meet.
The collaboration between Aizhan Sultan (Kazakhstan) and Saku Liimatainen (Finland) creates a vibrant dialogue between modern Finnish and Kazakh folk music: ancient traditions encounter contemporary soundscapes.
Singer, songwriter, and researcher Aizhan Sultan explores disability, identity, and postcolonial memory in her work. She is complemented by Saku Liimatainen, a live electronics musician, pianist, and composer whose textured soundscapes weave modern Finnish sound aesthetics with Aizhan’s nomadic roots. Together, they create an intercultural dialogue that addresses history and identity as much as transformation and artistic freedom. This is a performance where heritage meets innovation.
