Donald Duck-themed tour of sites in The Quest for Kalevala
Event Introduction
Join us for a Donald Duck-themed walking tour of various Helsinki sites depicted in Don Rosa’s comic book story The Quest for Kalevala (1999). The tour starts at 5 pm at Media Museum and Archives Merkki (Ludviginkatu 2–4) and will last approximately two hours. The tour will take participants to the key locations featured in The Quest for Kalevala:
The tour will encompass the Finnish Literature Society building (Hallituskatu 1), Railway Square, Three Smiths Square, Helsinki Cathedral, Market Square and Havis Amanda. Participants will hear how each site relates to the story and learn about how they are used today.
The tour will end at the Merkki Museum, where participants are invited to join a guided tour led by an Ateneum guide at 7:30 pm.
Merkki will be displaying Donald Duck-themed paintings previously exhibited at the Ateneum Art Museum in the Treasures from the National Gallery of Duckburg exhibition 2017–2018 and most recently at Sanoma House in spring 2026.
The tour will be led by journalist and Donald Duck enthusiast Pekka Luokkala.
