Janne Masalin

Event Introduction

Janne Masalin is an urban folk musician whose sharp lyrics break free from apathy, raise a toast from under the coffin lid and inspire and spread love. Masalin performs as a contemporary one-man band, featuring vocals and accordion, accompanied by machines and synthesisers and, at times, the powerful VOX duo of Tuuli Saksala and Susanna Haukkala. It’s a performance in which folk and singer-songwriter traditions meet electronic music.

The Night of the Arts at Musiikkitalo will feature the new large ensemble performing versions of past songs alongside yet-to-be-released pieces. The earthy music and pulsating lyrics will be combined with singing and chants by the six-strong ensemble.

Janne Masalin – vocals, accordion, live electronics
Rocka Merilahti – guitar
Jarno T. Karjalainen – bass
Janne Mahtlin – drums
Tuuli Saksala and Susanna Haukkala – vocals
