Welcome to Helsinki University’s Night of the Arts events in the Main Building!
HELSINKI UNIVERSITY MUSEUM FLAME (Fabianinkatu 33, 1st floor)
4–9 pm Angeloscope exhibition and meet the artist
The Angeloscope exhibition sheds light on people’s conceptions of angels through Hanne Kiiveri’s photographic art and multidisciplinary research. Explore the exhibition and meet photographic artist Kiiveri, who will speak about her works in front of the images from 6 pm to 8 pm with short, 15-minute introductions to selected works.
MAIN BUILDING, AGORA (Fabianinkatu 33, 1st floor)
5–8 pm Draw from a live model in Agora
Try drawing in the covered Agora courtyard in the University’s Main Building. The models for the croquis drawing event will be members of Ylioppilasmiekkailijat (Student Fencers) and the instructor will be artist Vappu Rossi, Drawing Master of Helsinki University Museum Flame. Drop in at any time with your sketchbook or drawing pad and your preferred drawing instruments. Materials will also be available to borrow on site. No previous experience of croquis drawing (or fencing) is required.
THE GREAT HALL (Aleksanterinkatu 5/Unioninkatu 34, 2nd floor)
5–8 pm Non-stop concert by the Ylioppilaskunnan Soittajat orchestra
Ylioppilaskunnan Soittajat (Helsinki University Symphony Orchestra), which celebrated its centenary in April, will delight audiences on the Night of the Arts with a non-stop concert in the Great Hall. Enjoy music performed by talented student musicians and the magnificent Great Hall, which serves as the principal venue for the University’s academic ceremonies and other formal occasions.

There is an accessible entrance to the building via the courtyard at Yliopistonkatu 2, where there is also an accessible parking space. The door is accessed via a ramp. The building has an accessible toilet, lockers and an accessible lift to the 2nd floor, where the Great Hall is located.
