Night of the Arts at Vuotalo

Event Introduction

Vuotalo will offer a variety of activities on the Night of the Arts, giving visitors an opportunity to both experience and create art.

Programme and timetable

3:30–6:30 pm (art classrooms on the 2nd floor): Adult Education Centre workshops
Art workshop for the whole family: Let’s create amusing portraits from leftover yarn. Children under the age of seven must be accompanied by an adult.

Stick & Stitch workshop (16+): Miniature embroidery on clothing or fabric. Instruction will be given in English (supplemented by Finnish and Russian, if necessary).

4–6 pm (Lobby): Opening of the Kohti tuntematonta (Towards the unknown) exhibition
The opening of illustrator-author Pasi Pitkänen’s adventure-filled exhibition (13 August–26 September 2026). Pitkänen will be drawing live during the event, and there will also be a rune workshop. Juice and sweet treats will be available.

6–8 pm (Vuotori, outdoors):
The last city dances of the season will be held alongside a performance by Tsuumi Dance Theatre, featuring a combination of improvised dance and music based on traditional youth club gatherings. This will be followed by a dance lesson and dancing to live music.

An accessible toilet is located on the 1st floor in Vuotalo.
