Re-Charge
Event Introduction
Re-Charge
Re-Charge is an electrifying bodily catalogue for alternative energy production. Re-Charge charges from love, for love.
It is part of a larger project Charge, that takes place in various neighbourhoods and communities as performances, workshops, encounters. The joy of dance, embodiment of community and international collaboration lie at the heart of the multiyear project.
Re-Charge is a site-specific dance piece that researches ways of charging and embodies a human battery. The dance piece gets its inspiration from superheroes, beat & music – techno / drum&bass / electrodance / amapiano / nollypiano / dubstep / you name it, exhaustion of body and mind, euphoria of dance, Formula 1 and acceleration, video games and trancelike repetition – from energy that recreates energy. The work scrutinises the unsustainable western energy production at large and searches for playful ways to be its own bionic light and fleshy battery.
Re-Charge is specifically lit up by love. Love as our real human superpower functions as a glue of the performance filtered in various ways, taking different forms and intensities. The bodies of the superheroes vibrate, yearn and pulsate radically changing something deep inside. Many parallel paths cross and coexist, there is order in chaos and hears beat – you can´t switch them off if you wanted to. Come recharge in a bath of multilayered emotions and vibrate the night away with some ferocious dancing!
Re-Charge is a sequel for performance called Charge (2024-2025). It is a celebration of collectivity and dance craze. The project is carried out by an international dance company Muddiverse.
