AMFIKINO
Event Introduction
NOTE! The event has been moved indoors. It will take place at the same address—just enter through the main doors.
Teater Viirus turns into a free of charge AMFIKINO for the third time in a row on the Night of the Arts, August the 20th!
The evening begins at 8pm with the Fenno-Swedish short film Xmas Tree (2024). Xmas Tree is a comedic drama about the difficulties involved in getting a proper Christmas tree. The film will be introduced to the audience by the director Herman Karlsson and cinematographer Anders Lönnfeldt.
After the short film we will give out one Viirus theatre season ticket to a lucky participant!
The evening’s long film will be the beloved gangster comedy Slim Susie by Ulf Malmros (Sweden, 2003). Slim Susie is an homage to film making and takes its inspiration from several film classics. The film is thought by many to be the best and funniest film to ever come out of Sweden. Rave reviews have pointed out how easy it is to empathize with the characters and situations, even if one hasn’t ever visited Värmland (the area that’s parodied in the film). On the other hand, critics who hated the film have said that the film is not even good enough for a New Year’s cabaret at a small village.
Come see for yourself and form your own opinion!
Both films have English subtitles.
Apple juice and candy will be served during the event.
The event is suitable for everyone over the age of 15.
