Event Introduction

Suomalainen Kirjakauppa will once again celebrate the Night of the Arts at our flagship store in Aleksanterinkatu in Helsinki. You are invited to take part in an unforgettable evening of fascinating interviews, engaging art workshops and fun activities. Welcome!

Main entrance, from 5 pm
• Be part of the creation of a Sharpie artwork and try out new marker pens

Art supplies department on the 1st floor, from 5 pm
• 5 pm Presentation of art supplies
• 6 pm Acrylic painting with artist Saara Salmi

The stage on the 2nd floor, from 5 pm
• 5–6 pm Meet and greet with popular YouTuber Paqpa
• 6–6:30 pm Author interview: Liisa Keltikangas-Järvinen
• 6:30–7 pm BookTok quiz with Kirjamimmit
• 7–7:30 pm Discussion on popular fiction with Janette Back and Annukka Salama
• 7:30–8 pm Discussion on beautiful language and literature with Riikka Pulkkinen and Joel Haahtela
• 8–8:30 pm Discussion on crime fiction with Arttu Tuominen and Elina Backman
• 8:45–9:30 pm Magic show by magician Mika Värtö

Book Café on the 2nd floor, from 4 pm
• 4–5 pm Quiz for young children: can you recognise these famous characters?
• 6–6:45 pm Ristikko-Suosikki crossword competition. Come alone or bring a friend and take part in a crossword-solving competition. The fastest pair will receive a prize.
• 7–8:30 pm Art diary workshop led by artist Riika Pikkuvirta. Try creative drawing and painting methods in a relaxed atmosphere.
• 9:30–10 pm Music performance by Suomalainen Kirjakauppa staff.

From 5 pm Balloons and a wheel of fortune for children. Sulo-pöllö the owl will be wandering around the shop, and there will be fun activities throughout the evening in the second-floor café.

6:30–8:30 pm Magician Mika Värtö will move around the shop performing magic tricks.
