Event Introduction
Welcome to explore the August exhibition at Kääntöpaikka Gallery! Maileena Byström’s small-scale retrospective, Illustrations for Children and Adults, consisting of watercolors, is built in true Kääntöpaikka spirit. As a meeting place, Kääntöpaikka is a mix of diverse cultural offerings, pitter-patter of toddler feet, relaxed tea and coffee moments, and numerous courses. Children’s involvement in the center’s activities plays an important role, which served as the spark for this exhibition. The showcase features Byström’s illustrations over the years for fairy tale books, textbooks, publications, and program productions, with works dating from roughly 1987 to 2003.
Along with the exhibition, an Art Flea Market will be held at the Intiankatu canopy kiosk from 4:00pm to 7:00pm! Welcome to sell traditional flea market items as well as all kinds of art! Selling at the flea market is free, and tables can be rented from the kiosk for €5. The kiosk will also be open during the event, serving waffles and other treats.
