Night of the Arts at Galleria Halmetoja

Event Introduction

On the Night of the Arts, Galleria Halmetoja is open until 22:00 – the gallery will be filled with art, music, and poetry.

The gallery is currently featuring Markus Jäntti’s exhibition Premium Deluxe. Exceptionally for the Night of the Arts, a playlist curated by Jäntti himself will be playing in the gallery.

Jäntti sees the horse as luxury brand logos, a racehorse, and humanity’s long domestication. The horse enables a transition from a scenic image to cultural systems of meaning, elegance, and the wearing down of significance. The horse is not an animal but a sign carrying history, power, and style. Jäntti’s paintings combine cultural history and advertising imagery from different centuries, yet expressionistically remain an integral part of contemporary painting.

Programme:

5:00pm–6:00pm | Artist talk
Gallerist Veikko Halmetoja interviews visual artist Markus Jäntti.

7:oopm–8:oopm | Translation poetry
Tommi Parkko presents new translated poetry books published by him.
Marja-Leena Mikkola talks about poetry translation work, interviewed by Veikko Halmetoja.

Translated poetry from Parkko Publishing and publications by Galleria Halmetoja will be on sale during the evening.

A warm welcome to spend the Night of the Arts at Galleria Halmetoja!
