Event Introduction

Experience four new short operas at once, speaking to the here and now. The Request, Mouthpiece, Emerge, and love is a rebellious bird dive into themes of trauma, social standing, technology, fantasy, and transformation. In these works, rawness, black humor, and touching beauty intertwine in ways that surprise and shake the soul. Sokeritehdas (The Sugar Factory) is a three-year project funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation, aimed at supporting the creation of new opera in Finland. Composers, librettists, and directors have joined forces to create new short works for the Almi Hall at the Finnish National Opera.
